| [Delfi (original in Russian)] As a result of control at the Narva border checkpoint, customs officers found a man heading to Russia matches, only one box, but this amount was enough to issue him a fine of 120 euros for violating the sanctions regime, writes Roman Vikulov (newspaper „City"). It was not the person himself who violated the sanctions regime in this way who told your correspondent about this story, but it was passed on through third parties. Despite all the apparent improbability, the story looked quite reliable, since another Narva resident, who had recently crossed the border and was caught again trying to take out a box of matches, shared information with „the City" about how it happened. He was luckier — escaped with a warning. What is fundamentally important is that matches are indeed on the list of those falling under sanctions goods (customs code — 3605), and in their case, as in the case of others, the maximum possible quantity for transportation to the Russian Federation has not been established. That is, formally the box is more than enough to break the law.... |
