| Carjacker's lengthy criminal history revealed after he caused horror crash that killed military father and 3 children | |||

| [Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A suspected 'carjacker' responsible for causing a horrific crash that killed four people and himself has a lengthy criminal record and was reportedly out on parole when the tragedy struck. Walter Huling, 31, was identified as the suspected carjacker who swiped a Toyota Matrix from a Colorado transportation station before colliding head-on with a family of six on November 24. Huling was on parole at the time and set to be discharged in January, according to his criminal record obtained by The Denver Gazette. The list of brushes with the law included four assault charges, three protection order violations, and one charge each of bribery, burglary, and driving under the influence between 2013 and 2018.
The crash killed a father, Alvin Corado, 35, a US service member, his two children, MaKenlee Corado, 11, and Toretto Corado, 8, and a third child, Jase Green, 12. Corado's 13-year-old sister, Mia, and Green's 14-year-old brother, Jordan, survived the crash and were airlifted to a hospital. An hour before the crash, the car was reportedly stolen from a parking garage. The woman who was driving the vehicle said she was pulled from her car after refusing to give the man a ride. George Brauchler, the district attorney for the county, told local ABC affiliate, KMGH-TV, that Huling's criminal history was 11 pages and dated back to when he was a juvenile. 'This guy’s criminal history and the fact that he appears to have been on parole and this happened seems like we are failing the community,' Brauchler added. The district attorney said the horror crash has resulted in anger from the community and questions as to how the state is dealing with crime. 'I’ve got questions for the state of Colorado, especially a guy that was on parole after he had a parole violation, and those questions have to be stern, and that is, ‘What are we doing?’ Who are you putting out here on the streets?' Brachler added.
Hurling's criminal history also included charges of criminal mischief, sexual contact without consent, resisting arrest, and two charges of assault on a police officer while in custody, court records show.
Marissa said Mia recalled the horror of the accident and was awake the whole time, even trying to help her siblings and her father. The mom added that her daughter was aware that she wouldn't be fit to fly for her father's service. Jennifer Watkins, Jordan and Jase's mom, shared an update on Saturday that Jordan's spirits were high and he was able to take a few steps. Watkins added that her partner, Alvin, was a 'devoted father figure and a proud member of the United States Army, whose life was tragically taken. 'Alvin was a good man - dedicated, loving, and deeply committed to the children he helped raise,' she added. There are two GoFundMe pages set up for Mia and Jordan as their families navigate the tremendous loss and their medical care. | |||
