[Regnum] The most powerful Geminid meteor shower of 2025 will be visible in December. This was reported by the Moscow Planetarium press service on November 29.
A giant meteor shower from the constellation Gemini will be visible from December 13th to 14th. Up to 120 meteors per hour are expected.
The Moon passed its last quarter phase on December 11, is moving towards the new moon and will not interfere with the observation of the meteor shower.
Additionally, from December 21st to 22nd—the longest night of the year—another meteor shower will be visible: the Ursids, from the constellation Ursa Minor. Up to 10 meteors per hour are expected. The moon will not interfere with meteor viewing this time either, as it will only be passing the new moon phase.
The previous Leonid meteor shower from the constellation Leo was visible on the night of November 17-18. Up to 15 meteors could be recorded per hour. The moon was in a phase close to new moon.
