[Regnum] Radio signals emitted by comet 3I/ATLAS confirm its natural origin and leave no other theories about its origin. This was stated on November 29 by Nathan Eismont, a leading researcher at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to the scientist, radio telescopes detected a signal emitted by the comet at frequencies of 1665-1667 megahertz, which is typical of comets. Radio emission of this kind is typically associated with the disintegration of water molecules under the influence of sunlight.
“This is the best evidence that comet 3I/ATLAS is of natural origin,” Eismont said in a comment to TASS.
According to him, the space object is under observation by astronomers from all over the world, who will soon be able to receive new signals at the specified frequencies.
In early July, the Atlas telescope system discovered an interstellar object, dubbed 3I/ATLAS. "3I" signifies that it is the third such celestial body ever observed. Interstellar objects form outside the Solar System and are the remnants of destroyed planetary systems. Two weeks later, the Gemini North telescope obtained images of the comet, which revealed that 3I/ATLAS formed in the thick disk of the Milky Way. Its age is estimated at 7 billion years, making it older than the Solar System. 3I/ATLAS has a diameter of approximately 20 km.
