[Regnum] Five solar flares of the penultimate power class (M) were recorded in the past 24 hours. This was reported on the website of the Institute of Applied Geophysics (IFG) on November 29.
The first M1.6 flare, lasting 13 minutes, occurred at 01:22 Moscow time, and the second M1.6 flare, lasting 15 minutes, was recorded at 03:02 Moscow time. At 07:20 Moscow time, the M1.6 flare lasted eight minutes.
The fourth M1.1 flare, lasting 23 minutes, occurred at 16:16 Moscow time, and at 19:07 Moscow time the longest flare, M2.9 (N20E89), lasting 48 minutes, was recorded.
All flares occurred in region 4294 and were recorded in the X-ray range.
Earlier, specialists from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory at the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported three powerful solar flares that occurred on the night of November 29. The scientists noted that the flares themselves were not unexpected, but what was noteworthy was that the Sun only reached this level more than 12 hours after the initial increase in activity.
Solar flares are classified into five classes—A, B, C, M, and X—based on the intensity of their X-ray emissions. These events are often accompanied by plasma ejections, which, upon reaching Earth, can trigger magnetic storms and interfere with spacecraft and radio communications.
On the morning of November 15, a very large X-magnitude solar flare occurred on the Sun. Its epicenter was region 427 in the Sun's northern hemisphere, where an X5.15 flare had been recorded two days earlier, becoming one of the strongest of 2025. Rosaviatsiya: Airbus A320 software update requirement does not apply to Russian airlines
European aircraft manufacturer Airbus's demand for an urgent software update for its A320 family of aircraft does not apply to Russian airlines, Federal Air Transport Agency spokesman Artyom Korenyako stated on November 29.
"A preliminary analysis of the issued directive has shown that it does not apply to Airbus A320 family aircraft operated by Russian airlines," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Korenyako emphasized that flight safety is the top priority for everyone working in the Russian air transport system.
On November 29, Airbus recalled 6,000 A320 airliners. Software issues were cited as the cause. Officially, the flight control system malfunctions were caused by increased solar activity. American Airlines announced that each aircraft required a two-hour repair.
In Kazakhstan, Air Astana and FlyArystan warned that their flights could be delayed due to Airbus's requirement to update the software of its A320 models before departure. Their fleets include approximately 40 aircraft of this series.
