| [IMDB] This is a 2020 Serbian made film depicting the July, 1995 massacre of 8,400 unarmed civilians in the town of Srebrenica in eastern Bosnia. The film's main character is Aida Selmanagić, a local secondary school teacher, hired on with the United Nation's Dutch peacekeeper contingent as an interpreter. The story while seemingly dry for American audiences, depicts in some detail how a Serbian Army unit, while violating its agreement to stay out of Srebrenica managed to massacre Bosnian Muslims. Aida spends her time attempting to save her husband and her two sons from the depredations of the Serbian military, there only to shed Serbian Moslem blood, and nothing else. The film is available on Tubi. Also available on youtube.com is a presentation of the trial of Ratko Mladic and others for the massacre of 8,400 unarmed civilians at Srebrenica. Most telling was that the defense of for the massacre was the Bosnian Muslim's massacre of around 20+ Bosnian Serbs in 1993. |
