[Regnum] Signs of a new increase in solar flare activity are being detected on the Sun. This was reported on November 17 by the press service of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to scientists, flare activity remained at a relatively elevated level over the past 24 hours and posed no risk to Earth. The geomagnetic environment was calm with only minor disturbances.
However, the situation may change within the next 24 hours: solar wind parameters remain unstable, resulting in weak geomagnetic disturbances. Experts are noting the first signs of a renewed increase in flares, but their intensity remains low and does not affect the operation of satellites or ground-based systems.
The laboratory emphasized that current processes are within normal limits for this period of the solar cycle, and no dangerous phenomena are currently predicted.
On November 14, scientists detected a very large X-class flare. The X4.05 flare occurred in the Sun's northern hemisphere and was one of the strongest of 2025, triggering a powerful magnetic storm observed from November 11 to 13. Scientists clarified that activity in this region began several weeks earlier, when it was on the far side of the Sun, and could have affected the motion of the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS.
