[Regnum] Over 60% of Germans fear terrorist attacks at traditional Christmas markets this year. These findings were obtained from a survey conducted by the YouGov public opinion research institute, the Tagesspiegel newspaper reported on November 16.

41% of respondents believe that existing security measures for Christmas are sufficient. However, 37% of respondents held the opposite view.
The survey, which involved 2,043 people, was conducted between November 10 and 12.
Over the past year, incidents of car-ramming and knife attacks have increased in Germany. In February, for example, a car drove into a crowd in Munich. At least 15 people were injured in the incident. Some eyewitnesses claim the man did it intentionally.
On December 20, 2024, the driver of a black BMW deliberately drove into a crowd of people at the Christmas market in Magdeburg. Many families with children were in that part of the fair. Authorities declared it a terrorist attack.
