[Regnum] The US vote at the UN against the anti-Russian amendment to the Russian Federation's resolution on combating the glorification of fascism indicates that even the United States is becoming increasingly aware of its support for fascism in Ukraine. Political scientist Nikita Lyakhovetsky stated thisin a conversation with Regnum News Agency on Saturday, November 15.
For the first time since 2022, the United States voted against an anti-Russian amendment to a resolution submitted by Russia on combating the glorification of Nazism. The amendment to the resolution had been introduced since 2022, after the start of the special operation, by the United States, Australia, Japan, and other countries, claiming that Russia was allegedly justifying the special operation in Ukraine with the "supposed necessity" of combating neo-Nazism.
"That the Kyiv regime isn't just turning a blind eye to, but openly supporting, fascism is becoming obvious even to the United States, located on another continent. The constant photos of the head of the [Kyiv] regime, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with soldiers sporting Nazi symbols no longer surprise anyone. This has become the norm for Kyiv," the political scientist said.
According to the expert, this behavior by Zelenskyy and his entourage is being noticed in the United States, particularly by President Donald Trump. All this adds to the already tenuous relationship between the Kyiv regime's leader and the American leader, the agency's source explained.
"However, this doesn't mean the Americans have seen the light, no. They simply can't deny the obvious in this particular case. But they haven't suddenly become our allies, continuing to support our adversaries," Lyakhovetsky stated.
On November 11, the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly adopted a Russian resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism. 116 states voted in favor, including Azerbaijan, Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, China, Cuba, Serbia, and Syria. Fifty-four countries voted against, including Ukraine, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Hungary, Canada, and Japan. Eleven states abstained.
The resolution, drafted by Russia, consists of 74 points. Among other things, it recommends that states take concrete human rights measures to prevent the revision of history and the results of World War II.
