[Regnum] Harvard University astronomer Avi Loeb has suggested that the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS may be artificially created. He made the announcement on November 15 in his blog.
The reason for this hypothesis was a publication on the Astronomer's Telegram portal, which reported that 3I/ATLAS, unlike typical comets, showed no signs of disintegration after its approach to the Sun on November 11.
"For a natural comet, the fact that 3I/ATLAS remains a single body is surprising," Loeb noted.
According to the astronomer, this new anomaly in 3I/ATLAS remains to be explained by his colleagues, who claim the celestial body is an ordinary comet. He adds that the observational results force serious consideration of the artificial origin theory.
Earlier, the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory, using the MeerKAT radio telescope, received the first signal from the 3I/ATLAS space object moving towards Earth.
