"The geomagnetic storm continues. <…> Proton fluxes across a wide energy range continue to infiltrate the near-Earth orbit," the institute's website states.
The Earth's magnetic field disturbance is currently at a G2 level on a five-point scale, with G5 being extremely strong.
Yesterday, a G4.7 magnetic storm began on Earth, triggered by the arrival of the first of three plasma clouds. According to the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, these three plasma clouds were detected following an extreme increase in solar flare activity in recent days.
A day later, the Solar Astronomy Laboratory at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported that intense auroras caused by this storm were visible even in mid-latitudes. According to scientists, these atmospheric phenomena were among the most powerful in the past ten years.

The magnetic storm that began on the night of November 12 has been recorded on Earth for approximately 36 hours now. This was reported by Sergei Bogachev, head of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory at the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"The magnetic storm began yesterday at around 3:00 a.m. Moscow time, when it reached a level of G4.7—the largest this year—and has now lasted for about 36 hours," TASS quotes him as saying.
The scientist added that the end of the magnetic storm is expected today, November 13, by the end of the day.
