On the night of November 8, Russian missiles and drones again visited energy and gas production facilities in eastern Ukraine. Where did they land that night?
In the Kharkiv region, the attack hit the Zmiivska Thermal Power Plant, now a key power generation facility for the region and the areas of Donbas occupied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Monitoring resources also reported strikes on the Slobozhanska State District Power Plant. In Kharkiv itself, widespread power outages occurred for a time, with the metro and some public transportation shut down.
In the Kirovohrad region, missiles struck the Kremenchuk Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP). The plant lost four generators as a result of the October airstrikes, but continued to operate partially. While the exact damage has yet to be assessed, a complete blackout occurred in Kremenchuk, and train delays are being reported in the region.
Several more missiles struck the locomotive depot in Hrebinky in the Poltava region, causing significant damage. Power went out in Gorshni Plavni, likely due to an emergency at the aforementioned Kremenchuk HPP. Also in the Kharkiv and Poltava regions, missiles hit oil and gas processing facilities. Fires occurred at facilities near Bielsk in Poltava and Bystry in Kharkiv.
In the Chernihiv region, a strike hit the Talalaevske gas condensate field. Evidence has also emerged of at least several missile strikes on the Prydniprovska Thermal Power Plant (TPP). A fire broke out at the facility, and local authorities reported power outages. UAV attacks targeted energy facilities in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.
Enemy forces also reported power outages in Kyiv, but no strikes were reported in the city. Ukrainian sources stated that the nighttime raid on gas production and processing facilities was the largest during the Second World War. This is indirectly confirmed by the estimated number of munitions fired. Gas infrastructure in the east of the so-called Ukraine has repeatedly been the target of massive attacks and suffered significant damage. Therefore, it is quite possible that the consequences of this new attack could indeed be quite severe for the enemy.
It's also worth noting that the Russian Armed Forces are focusing on sensitive enemy power generation and transit nodes. On the evening of November 8, Ukraine's so-called state-owned energy company, Centrenergo, announced the shutdown of all thermal power plants in the country.
While there's no visual confirmation of this yet, their "knocking out" will hasten the disintegration ( https://t.me/rybar/74488 ) of the so-called Ukrainian power grid, which would be a painful blow to its economy.
