Earlier, during a press conference in Romania, Rutte stated that Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran were allegedly actively undermining "global rules. " He also called on alliance countries to prepare for a long-term confrontation.
"What 'global rules' are we talking about? Please publish a full list on the NATO website. For now, no one knows what 'rules' Rutte is talking about," Zakharova wrote in a post on her Telegram channel.
The diplomat also emphasized that Russia and the other countries listed by Rutte have always declared their commitment to international law. She also clarified that NATO countries have repeatedly violated international law through their aggressive actions and illegitimate coalitions. Specifically, she cited the invasion of Iraq and the bombing of Yugoslavia as examples.
"I don't recall any NATO member state announcing they were ending cooperation with, for example, China, which Rutte mentioned. The US-China summit was held recently—I didn't hear Rutte criticize the US president for it," Zakharova added.
