[Regnum] A Sudanese military transport cargo plane crashed near the town of Babanusa in western Sudan. This was reported on November 5 by the Sudan Tribune, citing the country's armed forces command.
According to the Sudanese army, the crash occurred on November 4 in West Kordofan state due to a "sudden malfunction of the right wing." The aircraft was on a mission to deliver supplies to military units surrounded by the Rapid Reaction Force (RRF) in the Babanusa area. After losing control, the aircraft caught fire and crashed in an uninhabited area, several dozen kilometers from the military base.
The military statement noted that the crew managed to divert the plane away from army positions before the crash. All on board were killed.
The Sudanese armed forces also reported that air defense systems shot down an "enemy strategic drone" that attempted to enter regional airspace.
The SBR claimed to have shot down a military aircraft over Babanusa and released video footage from the crash site. They also indicated that the aircraft in question was a Russian-made Il-76. However, Sudanese authorities have not confirmed this information.
