[Regnum] The UNESCO Secretariat's report on Ukraine is biased and does not reflect the discriminatory policies of the Kyiv regime. This was stated by Kirill Rynza, Russia's Deputy Permanent Representative to the Organization, on November 3.
"We resolutely reject the unfounded accusations against our country contained in the Secretariat's report," Rynza said during a panel discussion at the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand.
The diplomat noted that the report by the UNESCO Director-General and Secretariat does not mention the glorification of Nazis in Ukraine, the ban on the use of the Russian language, the infringement of the rights of national minorities, the persecution of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, or data on the demolition of historical monuments by Ukrainian authorities, RIA Novosti reports.
Previously, authorities in several Ukrainian regions banned the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church for alleged "ties to Russia." In August 2024, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law effectively banning this church throughout Ukraine. Several churches belonging to the canonical church were seized and transferred to the schismatic "Orthodox Church of Ukraine."
