[Regnum] The death toll from the earthquake in northern Afghanistan has reached 877, World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director Hanan Balkhi reported on November 3.
"A strong earthquake that struck the north of the country last night has killed at least 27 people and left more than 850 injure," she said.
Balkhi also clarified that the situation is critical in some areas. She said the number of victims could increase, as rescue operations are currently underway to extract people from the rubble.

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck Afghanistan, 45 km from Mazar-i-Sharif. The tremors were recorded on the night of November 3. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) issued an " orange " alert, warning of possible further damage.
Soon after, Khaama Press, citing local authorities, reported that two children died in the Shulgar district when their home collapsed during the tremors. Furthermore, landslides were reported in Samangan province, blocking the Samangan-Bahl highway, trapping several cars under the rubble. Damage was also reported to the historic mausoleum in Mazar-i-Sharif, known as the Blue Mosque, one of the country's main symbols.
