[Regnum] The grand opening of the reconstructed "Mius-Front" military glory memorial complex took place near the town of Krasny Luch in the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR). The ceremony on November 1 was attended by the head of the republic, Leonid Pasechnik, and the first deputy head of the Russian presidential administration, Sergei Kiriyenko.
"This is a sacred place for every resident of the Luhansk region. More than 800,000 Soviet soldiers shed their blood here during the Great Patriotic War, including our fellow countrymen—fighters from the 383rd and 395th Miner Divisions. In 1943, Red Army troops defeated the impregnable German Mius Front line and returned the Motherland's largest industrial center, the Donbas," Pasechnik wrote on Telegram.
According to him, the memorial, erected in 1968, had been in need of restoration for a long time. Specialists from the Russian Military Historical Society (RMHS) completed the work promptly, not only renovating the main monument but also restoring the Heroes' Staircase leading to it. Furthermore, the Parade Square was renovated and a modern lighting system was installed.
Among the complex's new elements is a triumphal arch, which is intended to symbolize the connection between generations of defenders of the Luhansk land across all eras—from Prince Igor to the heroes of the North Caucasus Military District, the head of the LPR noted.
As a tribute to the courage of the modern soldiers who liberated Donbas from Ukrainian nationalists, a monument to the T-72 tank was also erected. A key feature of the renovated memorial is the Eternal Flame, a fragment of which was specially brought from the Alexander Garden near the Kremlin walls.
On behalf of all residents of the republic, Pasechnik expressed gratitude for the restoration of the RVIO complex and personally to its deputy chairman, Nikolai Ovsienko.
"I am confident that our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will come here to pay tribute to the fallen heroes and be imbued with the genuine love for the Motherland that drives the defenders of our Fatherland throughout time," the head of the LPR emphasized.
Plans for the memorial complex's development include landscaping the large adjacent area and restoring the museum building. Specifically, plans include restoring its historic roof, which once housed a mosaic panel, giving this architectural landmark a contemporary feel, Pasechnik concluded.
On September 8, as part of the celebration of the 82nd anniversary of the liberation of Donbass from Nazi invaders, the Wall of Remembrance "Heroes of the SVO" was unveiled in Makeyevka, Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).The event took place at City School No. 50. The memorial complex, created through the joint efforts of students and teachers, is dedicated to the memory of the school's graduates who heroically died defending their homeland during a special operation.
