[Korrespondent] Explosions and a large-scale fire were reported near the Ryazan Oil Refinery. An ammunition depot in the Belgorod region was destroyed.
On Thursday night, Ukrainian forces struck two important targets in Russia, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on October 23.
Thus, a strategic enemy facility involved in supporting the Russian Armed Forces—the Ryazan Oil Refinery—was struck. Explosions and a large-scale fire were recorded in the target area.
According to the General Staff, the Ryazan Oil Refinery is one of the largest in the central part of the Russian Federation and belongs to the Rosneft company.
"The plant's capacity is designed to process over 17 million tons of oil per year and plays a vital role in providing fuel to enemy military formations and the logistical supply chains of the occupying forces. Disabling some of the plant's production capacity reduces the Russian army's combat capabilities," the statement reads.
That same night, Ukrainian attack drones also struck an enemy ammunition depot near the village of Valuyki in the Belgorod region. According to available information, the target was destroyed, and detonations and explosions of ammunition were observed.
Earlier, social media reported a drone attack on the Ryazan Oil Refinery. Local residents wrote on social media about explosions near the refinery and the Dyagilevo airfield.
On October 22, Ukrainian military forces struck the Saransk Mechanical Plant, which is located in Mordovia, as well as the Makhachkala Oil Refinery in Dagestan.
