[Korrespondent] The Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding back the Russian offensive in eastern and southern Ukraine.
The most active fighting continues in the Pokrovsk area. There, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are repelling Russian attacks near eight settlements.
Since the start of the current day, 56 combat clashes have occurred on the front. This is half the number recorded yesterday, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in its operational update as of 4:00 PM on Wednesday, October 22.
Thus, in the Severo-Slobodskoy and Kursk directions, our defenders repelled four attacks by Russian invaders.
Three attacks have been stopped in the Yuzhno-Slobodskoy direction, and another clash is ongoing. The enemy is attacking near Vovchansk, Bologovka, Stroyevka, and Kolodeznoye.
In the Kupyansk direction, our soldiers are repelling an enemy attack in the Peschanoye area.
Two military clashes occurred near the villages of Drobyshevo and Derilovo in the Limansky direction. One battle is ongoing.
In the Slavyansk direction, the Russians attempted to advance on our troop positions in the areas of Serebryanka, Seversk, Vyemka, and Fyodorovka five times. All attacks were stopped.
In the Konstantinovka direction, the invaders launched five attacks near the villages of Pleshchyivka, Rusyn Yar, and Sofiyivka. The fighting is currently ongoing in one location.
In the Pokrovsk area, clashes of varying intensity have erupted 20 times near the villages of Volodymyrivka, Myrnohrad, Novoekonomicheskoe, Krasny Liman, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and Filiya. Five armed clashes are ongoing.
In the Aleksandrovsk direction, the aggressor attempted to advance 10 times near the settlements of Andreyevka-Klevtsovoye, Sosnovka, Verbovoye, Privolnoye, Novovasilyevka, and Novogrigorovka. Six combat clashes are still ongoing.
In the Gulyai-Polye direction, our soldiers are repelling an attack near Malinovka.
In the Orekhov direction, the enemy twice attempted to advance on the positions of our units in the Novodanilovka and Stepovoye areas.
On the Dnieper front, the enemy attacked twice in the direction of the Antonovsky Bridge. One battle is still ongoing.
As a reminder, Russia lost over 1,000 soldiers killed and wounded in the 24 hours of October 21. The total number of Russian casualties is approaching 1.2 million.
