[Regnum] A pine cone picker in Primorsky Krai survived a second bear attack. This was reported on October 21 by the Nakhodka City Hospital.
A 49-year-old man encountered the bear approximately 8 km from the village of Laz. He tried to scare the bear away, but the animal attacked. However, the animal was well-fed and quickly lost interest in its prey. The pine cone picker, despite blood loss, was able to escape the forest on his own.
"The ambulance crew delivered the victim with extensive lacerations to the head and body, comminuted fractures of the facial bones, and an eye injury," the medical facility said in a statement on its Telegram channel.
The patient was urgently referred for surgery. The wounds were 16 cm long, and surgical debridement took an hour and a half. The victim will undergo further treatment in the maxillofacial surgery department of Regional Clinical Hospital No. 2.
After doctors stabilized the man's condition, he explained that this wasn't his first encounter with a bear. A similar incident occurred about 10 years ago. He also required medical attention then.
