Putin conveyed Russia's position on the Middle East settlement to Trump – Ushakov
During a telephone conversation with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin outlined Russia's position on the Middle East peace process in detail. This was stated by the Russian leader's foreign policy aide, Yuri Ushakov, on October 16.
Ushakov noted that at the beginning of the conversation, Putin congratulated Trump on his success in resolving the conflict in Gaza.
According to the diplomat, the peacekeeping activities of the head of the White House have been highly appreciated in the Middle East, the United States, and most countries around the world.
"Naturally, Russia's principled position was outlined in favor of a comprehensive Middle East settlement based on a generally recognized international legal framework that would guarantee sustainable peace for all peoples of the region," Ushakov noted during the briefing.
Earlier, following a telephone conversation with Putin, Trump expressed the opinion that success in the Middle East would help negotiations to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
On October 14, the American leader declared that the work to resolve the conflict in the Gaza Strip was not complete. The US president announced the second phase of the peace plan. According to Trump, all 20 hostages have been released, but the bodies of the dead have not yet been returned.
