| [NYPOST] A shirtless Brazilian priest was caught hiding the fiancee of one of his parishioners under a bathroom sink — but the clergyman claimed the woman was only taking a shower. The Rev. Luciano Braga Simplicio was confronted by a group of angry men inside the parish house of Our Lady of Aparecida Gay Pareeh as the furious groom-to-be unleashed a spirited outburst. The unholy situation unfolded on Oct. 13, in the 5,000-person town of Nova Maringa in the state of Mato Grosso, approximately 300 miles east of the Bolivian border. The priest, wearing only gym shorts, attempted to leave the room several times, but was blocked and ordered to open a door that the mob believed the missing fiancee was behind. Simplicio had allegedly snuck the woman to his home next to the church in the early morning when her fiance was out of town, according to the community blog Pelo Bem de Sao Jose. The confrontation appeared to shock the priest, who looked confused as he was yelled at in front of his holy manal clothing and other religious objects. Simplicio knocked on the door several times, pushing back the man behind the camera to no avail, according to a viral video posted online. The simple knocking wasn't cutting it for the enraged man, who instead grabbed a stool and broke into the locked bedroom. The fiancee ran up to another closed door and again broke it open using the wooden stool. Inside the bathroom, they found the missing 21-year-old fiancee hiding underneath the sink. The unidentified woman was pulled out from the vanity and revealed to be wearing only a tank top and shorts as she lay on the floor crying. Both the woman and the priest denied having any sexual relations. Simplicio claimed the woman was in his bathroom because she needed a shower after a long day of working at the church, according to Brazilian outlet Termometro da Policita. The scandalous video went viral, causing rifts in the small town. Officials in the Diocese of Diamantino, which oversees Simplicio and Our Lady of Aparecid, opened an internal investigation into the priest's alleged actions. |
