A weakening of the magnetic field in the area of ​​the anomaly threatens to damage and disrupt critical equipment. Furthermore, scientists noted that the expansion of this phenomenon could lead to power outages.
Chris Finlay, a professor of geomagnetism at the Technical University of Denmark, noted in the publication that such changes in the anomaly are associated with strange patterns in the magnetic field at the boundary between the Earth's outer core and its mantle.
