Ukrainian military conducted a counteroffensive operation in the Zaporizhia region. The villages of Mali Shcherbaky, Shcherbaky, and adjacent areas have been liberated. This was announced on Sunday, October 12, by Oleksandr Kovalenko, commander of the 24th Separate Assault Battalion, Aidar , and Colonel Valentyn Manko , who leads the assault units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"Units of the 24th Separate Assault Battalion "Aidar," together with their comrades from the 33rd Separate Assault Regiment, raised the Ukrainian flag in the village of Mali Shcherbaki in the Zaporizhzhia sector. The village is under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces," Kovalenko wrote.
In turn, Manko said that thanks to the assault troops of the aforementioned units, who carried out a successful counteroffensive special operation, it was possible to liberate not only Malye Shcherbaki, but also Shcherbaki, as well as the surrounding areas and, in part, Stepnoye.
According to him, the fighters have advanced nearly 3.5 kilometers and more than 5 kilometers along the front line. The operation continues.
"We still have Primorskoye, Stepnogorsk, Plavni, and part of Kamenskoye under our control," Manko said.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian army continues the Dobropillia counteroffensive operation in Donetsk region and has achieved some success. According to Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Sirsky, the area of ​​liberated territory already amounts to approximately 180.8 square kilometers . Another nearly 212.9 square kilometers have been cleared of sabotage groups.
