[Regnum] A tourist being lowered by rescuers from Vilyuchinsky Volcano in Kamchatka has died from her injuries. The regional Ministry of Emergency Situations reported this on October 4.
On October 4, a group of three people climbing Vilyuchinsky Volcano fell from a height. One of the tourists died, and the girl who fell with him was in critical condition. A rescue team and an Emergency Ministry helicopter were dispatched to the scene to evacuate the victims.
"The woman who was injured on Vilyuchinsky Volcano died from her injuries while descending from the scene," the department clarified.
Meanwhile, emergency services are lowering a third uninjured tourist down the volcano. She will be taken to an altitude of 1,500 meters, where doctors from the disaster medicine center are waiting for her.
A state of emergency has been in effect in Kamchatka since September 15 due to earthquakes. Aftershocks continue. At the end of September, tourists were warned of the danger posed by volcanoes and urged to refrain from visiting them.
