[Regnum] A California court fined American attorney Amir Mostafavi $10,000 for using fabricated legal quotes from ChatGPT. CallMatters reported this on September 22.
"Amir Mostafavi, who was fined last week, told the court that he did not read the text generated by the artificial intelligence model before filing an appeal in July 2023," the publication said.
According to the publication's expert, Mostafavi's fine is the largest penalty imposed on a lawyer by a California court and one of the highest fines ever imposed for a lawyer's use of artificial intelligence.
