Text: Following military operations against IS-Somalia in northeastern Somalia there has been a noticeable decline in financial ties between jihadist groups particularly IS-Sahel whose activities and movements have weakened. This suggests IS-Somalia was a key hub for IS global operations. The capture of IS-Somalia finance chief accelerated the group's financial collapse as he was a vital figure in the Al-Karrar financial office. Over the past ten months, targeted killings of technical fighters arrests of financial operatives and disruption of global funding have severely impacted the group. IS-Somalia failed to develop a long-term strategy to recover especially after the Puntland government launched a comprehensive offensive. The decline in effective operations by IS-Somalia and IS-Sahel reflects a broader financial and tactical breakdown among jihadist fighters. |
