Global Sumud Flotilla says one vessel still sailing

[GEO.TV] The Global Sumud Flotilla has said that the vessel, named Marinette, is "still sailing strong".

"In the last 24 hours, 21 boats were confirmed intercepted — 20 presumably intercepted and one still sailing," the group wrote in an Instagram post.

It added that more than 450 civilians were "illegally kidnapped" by Israeli forces.

New details have been revealed about the Navy’s operation to block the “Sumud” flotilla to Gaza:

1. This was an unprecedented operation in scope for the Israeli Navy, which had never before dealt with a flotilla of such size — 42 vessels entering Israel’s territorial waters. The decision was made to first seize the six main ships, and later “chase” the smaller ones. Each vessel required a boarding operation to land forces.

2. Forces inspecting the dozens of vessels in recent hours found that the so-called humanitarian aid on board, allegedly meant for Gaza, was extremely minimal. Despite the large number of 42 ships, the humanitarian supplies were negligible. A security source said tonight: “This proves the entire event is purely a provocation, and that’s how it should be regarded.”

3. An unusual incident occurred during the flotilla: after Shayetet 13 completed its takeover of one of the ships this morning, the vessel was en route to Ashdod port with both fighters and passengers on board when the yacht began sinking and tilting due to a major technical failure. The Shayetet 13 team called for backup and began safely transferring the passengers. The yacht eventually sank.

4. The commander of the Israeli Navy, Maj. Gen. David Saar Salama, personally commanded the takeover operation from one of the Navy’s ships at sea, alongside other senior commanders. All commanders remained at sea throughout the night.

5. So far, searches have not uncovered any weapons on any of the flotilla’s vessels (not even cold weapons such as knives or clubs).

6. Alongside the naval operation, a special IDF Spokesperson’s operations room was set up overnight and into the morning. Unlike in past incidents, extensive photography and documentation equipment was deployed at sea to capture the event from multiple angles. Some fighters were equipped with body cameras. The footage was streamed live to the operations room to enable real-time distribution via the Foreign Ministry. In the pre-operation briefings, emphasis was placed on preventing “legitimacy incidents,” knowing that the flotilla participants themselves would be live-broadcasting the event.
