"A sharp increase in geomagnetic fluctuations. According to the latest measurements, the geomagnetic activity index Kp has spiked to 7.33, which corresponds to a strong magnetic storm of category G3+ on a 5-point scale, " the laboratory's website states.
According to scientists, the last time a magnetic storm of this magnitude occurred on Earth was on June 1, when a direct impact from a large solar prominence was recorded on the planet.
Meanwhile, the space environment around Earth remains significantly complicated due to the influence of increased solar activity. Powerful auroras also continue to occur on the planet.
