Ukrainian troops are continuing their counteroffensive in the Donetsk region, particularly in the areas of Pokrovsk and Dobropillia. Since the beginning of the Dobropillia counteroffensive, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have liberated more than 174 square kilometers and cleared more than 194 square kilometers, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced. "We are continuing the counteroffensive. As of this morning, total Russian casualties have reached 3,185, and almost 1,800 of those are irreparable losses," he added.
A CAULDRON FOR RUSSIANS
Some Russian invader units have been encircled in the Dobropillya area, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrsky reported following his work with the units.
According to him, a meeting was held with the commanders of units and subdivisions involved in the counter-offensive operation.
"Thanks to the clearly planned and courageous actions of our troops, some enemy units were encircled. The occupiers' total losses in the Dobropillia area amount to 3,185 men, 1,769 of which were irreparable. The invaders also lost 969 pieces of weapons and military equipment," Syrsky reported.
WHO COUNTERATTACKS?
"It's hard to talk about success when we're defending ourselves, but I believe this is a success for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Conclusions will probably be drawn a little later. God willing, everything will end as it is now. The 79th and 82nd Brigades are there now; we've spoken with them. The National Guard is there, and there are assault units," Zelenskyy added.
Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko stated that servicemen from the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine (Azov), along with fighters from other units of the Defense Forces, are participating in the counteroffensive.
ACTIONS OF RUSSIANS
Russian occupiers are experiencing logistical problems in the Pokrovsk sector and a shortage of personnel in the Donetsk-Dnipropetrovsk sector, according to a new report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
At the same time, Putin signed a decree on the autumn conscription of 2025: from October 1 to December 31, Russia plans to mobilize 135,000 men aged 18 to 30, not currently in the reserves. In 2024, during the autumn conscription in the aggressor country, 133,000 were called up, after raising the upper limit of the draft age from 27 to 30.
