[Regnum] A new M-class solar flare, the penultimate power class, occurred on the Sun on September 29. The Institute of Applied Geophysics reported this to TASS.
“At 14:15 Moscow time, an M1.1 flare lasting 12 minutes was recorded in the X-ray range in the sunspot group 4232 (N05E41),” the report says.
According to the forecast, high flare activity with potential risks to the Earth is expected on September 29.
On September 27, the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported that solar flare activity would increase significantly, with the potential for further growth. However, scientists noted that the geomagnetic environment on Earth remains calm and stable.
On September 28, the Solar Astronomy Laboratory at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported that the most powerful solar flare in three months had occurred, with a possible firestorm afterward. It was clarified that although large volumes of plasma were ejected into space, their speeds were insufficient to overcome the Sun's gravity. They will likely be unable to escape into interplanetary space and will eventually fall back onto the Sun as a fiery rain.
