[Regnum] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu apologized for the attack on Doha during a phone call with his Qatari counterpart, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. The Israeli Prime Minister's Office press service reported this on September 29.
"Mr. Prime Minister, I want you to know that Israel regrets that one of your citizens was killed as a result of our strike," the press service quoted Netanyahu as saying.
He also assured his colleague that Israel would no longer violate Qatar's sovereignty, a promise to this effect having been made to US President Donald Trump.
The Israeli army struck Doha on September 9. Tel Aviv claimed the headquarters of the Palestinian Hamas movement was attacked, allegedly housing members of the organization responsible for the attacks on Jewish settlements on October 7, 2023.
Abd al-Rahman Al-Thani subsequently announced that Qatar reserves the right to retaliate. He also called for an end to Israeli aggression and described Netanyahu's actions as insane and pushing the region toward an irreparable situation.
US Vice President J.D. Vance stated that Trump is displeased with Israel's attack on Doha. The American leader believes it runs counter to the interests of both Washington and Tel Aviv.
