| Asayish in Aleppo repel government attack, reaffirm April 1 pact |

| ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Aleppo said on Tuesday they repelled an attack by units aligned with the Syrian government on one of their checkpoints near the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighbourhoods, and called for strict implementation of the April 1 agreement to prevent further clashes. Muhammad Khalil, co-chair of the Asayish in the Sheikh Maqsoud–Ashrafieh area, told North Press that “factions affiliated with the Syrian government deliberately attacked one of our military points on the outskirts of the two neighbourhoods, and were met with a response in the framework of the legitimate right of self-defence.” He said the confrontation left two of the attackers wounded and one killed, and that Asayish forces had detained two members of the government-aligned units.
