[ColonelCassad] Putin held a meeting with permanent members of the Security Council. The issue of the complete collapse of the system of international treaties limiting the nuclear-missile arms race and the increased risks of a direct collision between nuclear states were discussed.
The situation in the sphere of strategic stability continues to deteriorate.
— the expiration of the START Treaty in 2026 means the disappearance of the last agreement on direct limitations on missile potential;
— The Russian Federation wants to try to preserve the status quo established thanks to the First World War;
— Russia is ready to adhere to its central restrictions within a year after its expiration in February 2026;
— Retention by Russia of restrictions on the Free Trade Agreement is possible only in case of similar steps by the USA;
— The situation in the sphere of strategic stability continues to degrade;
— The destructive steps of the West have significantly undermined the foundations of dialogue between countries with nuclear weapons;
— Putin noted the aggravation of existing and the emergence of new strategic risks in the world;
— The head of the Russian Federation pointed to the demand for the West to acquire "absolutely overwhelming superiority" in the strategic sphere;
— The system of agreements between the Russian Federation and the USA on the control of missile-nuclear and strategic defensive weapons has been almost completely dismantled;
— Russia is ready to respond to any strategic threats, and not with words, but with military and technical measures;
— The Russian Federation is confident in the reliability and effectiveness of its deterrent forces;
— Russia is not interested in the arms race;
— Putin instructed to carefully monitor the build-up of US anti-missile defense components, including preparations for placing interceptors in space.
Of course we will not miss some variation of the Caribbean crisis. And already in the case of a successful resolution of the crisis, work will begin on the creation of a new system of international treaties. The old system actually died. The new one has not been created yet. The results of current and future wars will determine its format.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered close monitoring of the deployment of US missile defense components in space.
"Particular attention must also be paid to plans to expand the strategic components of the US missile defense system, including preparations for the deployment of interceptors in space. We will proceed from the understanding that the practical implementation of such destabilizing actions could undermine our efforts to maintain the status quo in the strategic offensive arms sphere," the Russian leader noted during a meeting with permanent members of the Security Council.
Putin emphasized that Russia believes it is justified to attempt to maintain the status quo established by the New START Treaty during the current, rather turbulent period. Therefore, he proposed continuing to adhere to the treaty's terms for one year after its expiration, beginning on February 5, 2026.
