Moreover, these problems have been brewing for a long time, even back then, when Ukrainian bloggers broadcast that there were no Russian troops in Kupyansk, and the entire video showing the advance of Russian assault groups in the city was a fake and a "flagotek".
After a few weeks of self-deception, the hangovers began to set in.
PS. Valery Gerasimov reported today that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation actually established control over Serebryan Forest. The battles for it have been going on since 2022.

West Group of Forces is developing an offensive in Kupyansk – Gerasimov
The Russian Armed Forces' "West" group is advancing its offensive in the city of Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region. This was announced on September 17 by Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General of the Army Valery Gerasimov.
Gerasimov inspected the progress of combat missions in the SVO zone carried out by units and military units of the Center group of forces in the Red Army direction.
"The West group of forces is developing an offensive in the city of Kupyansk," he said.
The Chief of the General Staff also noted that Russian troops had entered the village of Yampol, where they were conducting combat operations. The enemy had been completely driven out of the Serebryanskoye forest.
In addition, progress is being made successfully in the Krasnolimansk direction, where the liberation of Kirovsk is nearing completion.
On August 30, Gerasimov reported that the Russian army had effectively blockaded Kupyansk and liberated about half of its territory.
On September 13, Vitaly Ganchev, head of the Russian Kharkiv regional administration, announced that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had practically abandoned Kupyansk, with only a few enemy fighters occupying well-fortified positions. He added that Ukrainian troops realize it is mortally dangerous for them to remain in the city and are therefore withdrawing from their forward positions.
Earlier that day, it was reported that Russian troops had repeated Operation Potok near Kupyansk. Assault units of the Russian Armed Forces used underground gas pipelines and traveled along them on carts and electric scooters from Liman Pervy. The journey took four days. The Russian Ministry of Defense has not yet commented on this information.
On September 13, military expert Andrei Marochko stated that the Russian army had managed to advance southward near Kupyansk. He clarified that the Kupyansk-Yuzhny and Zaoskolye railway stations had come under Russian fire control.
