[Regnum] Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Oleksandr Syrskyi has dismissed the commanders of two corps. We are talking about the commander of the 17th Corps Volodymyr Silenko and the commander of the 20th Corps Maksym Kitugin. This was reported by the publication "Ukrainian Truth" with reference to sources in the AFU.
According to available information, the dismissals took place one or two weeks ago. The reason for such decisions was the loss of positions in the areas of the front for which these military leaders were responsible.
The 17th Corps under Silenko's command is stationed in the Ukrainian-controlled part of Zaporizhia Oblast, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces recently lost the village of Kamenskoye. Kitugin's 20th Corps is located on the border of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and the DPR, where successful advances by Russian troops have been noted.
On August 28, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said that the pace of the Russian army's advance in the special operation zone is constantly growing, with Russian troops liberating 600-700 square kilometers every month. Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Army General Valery Gerasimov, had previously noted that the Russian army was continuing its non-stop offensive along virtually the entire length of the combat contact line.
