As follows from the video from the scene, the man who left the pig's head on the fence near the mosque recorded it on his phone.
Unknown persons threw a pig's head to the mosque of the village of Kozet in the Takhtamukaysky district of Adygea, the Muslim Spiritual Directorate of Adygea and Krasnodar Krai reported. "There is only one explanation for this act - it is a vile provocation aimed at destabilizing our region and an attempt to destroy interethnic and interfaith harmony in society," the Muftiate's Telegram channel said. "Law enforcement agencies are investigating the incident, the situation is under the control of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Adygea and the authorities of the republic," the report emphasizes.
The Telegram channel "ChP Maykop/Republic of Adygea" posted a video from surveillance cameras, which shows a man approaching a fence, putting a pig's head on one of the bars. Then he takes a few steps back, holding his hands at face level, apparently taking a photo or video, and leaves the building.
The Adygea Ministry of Internal Affairs had not commented on the incident on its Telegram channel by 17:24 Moscow time.
On October 11, 2023, it became known that a pig's head had been thrown to the monument to Akhmat Kadyrov in Moscow. After the incident, Moscow resident Dmitry Kudryashov was detained. His father reported that Dmitry and his girlfriend had placed a pig's head to the monument, but the action was not religious in nature, but "was rather political."
The pig is a forbidden animal in Islam, this incident can be regarded as an anti-Muslim action. Throwing parts of a dead animal is offensive in itself, analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" noted.
On December 5, 2011, unknown individuals also threw pig heads at the monument ; a criminal case was opened under the article “Hooliganism”.
In 2014, residents of Kobuleti in Adjara hung a pig's head on a building where a Turkish citizen planned to open a madrassa. The Muslim community filed a complaint of discrimination with the Batumi City Court. In July 2015, rallies against the activities of a Muslim boarding school were held in the city. In September 2016, three Georgian residents were found guilty of discrimination against Muslims. Participants in the protests against the Muslim boarding school were fined. In 2019, a complaint was filed against Georgia over the harassment of Muslims. The Georgian authorities failed to protect the rights of religious minorities and failed to help ensure the opening of a boarding school for Muslim students in Kobuleti, according to a complaint sent to the European Court of Human Rights.
The European Court of Human Rights ruled that the Georgian authorities had failed to take adequate measures to prevent religious discrimination and violence against the founders of a madrassa in Kobuleti and awarded compensation to the applicants. However, it refused to recognize the incident with the pig's head hanging on the door of the madrassa as degrading treatment.
