[Regnum] A tsunami threat was declared in Kamchatka after a strong aftershock. This was reported on September 13 by the region's governor, Vladimir Solodov.
"A tsunami threat has been declared. Please be especially careful when visiting Khalaktyrsky Beach and other tsunami-hazardous areas," the head of the region wrote on the Telegram channel.
According to updated data, he noted, the magnitude of the earthquake was 7.4. Tremors of 4–6 points were felt in the regional capital.
Specialists have already begun inspecting socially significant facilities. All services have been put on high alert. There has been no information about damage as a result of the earthquake, the governor added.
The Kamchatka Territory Ministry of Emergency Situations later reported that the tsunami threat had been lifted. No wave approach was recorded near populated areas.
Following the earthquake in Kamchatka, the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) declared a tsunami threat.
On September 13, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 was recorded in Kamchatka. The epicenter was in the Pacific Ocean, 114 km east of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky District, the source was at a depth of 47 km. Tremors were felt in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. No evacuation of the population was carried out.
