“Due to the growth of supply on the domestic market, prices for table eggs are falling,” Dmitry Krasnov, managing director of the Competence Center in the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Russian multi-service technology company, told the newspaper.
The publication states that as of September 3, 2025, a dozen first-category eggs from producers cost an average of 53.3 rubles, which is 26.5% less than last year. It is noted that the current situation has already led to a decrease in profitability among egg producers to 11.01%. While a year earlier, the figure was 53.6%.
In July, it became known that poultry farms in Russian regions began to slaughter laying hens due to falling egg prices and overall unprofitability of production. The sharp drop in purchase prices began in April, and was most pronounced in late May - early June. Deputy Chairperson of the Farmers' Association Ksenia Sumkova reported that the cost of producing one egg is 4-5 rubles, depending on the region and size of the enterprise. At the same time, in June, the wholesale price of first-category eggs dropped to 2 rubles.
