The Army said the incident occurred on Wednesday, 10 September 2025, when bandidos intercepted a 17-seater bus conveying passengers from Osun State to Abuja. The criminals forced the travellers into the bush after abandoning the vehicle by the roadside at Opamaru Village. A swift response team from the Patrol Base in Apata, reinforced by the Brigade's Quick Response Group, immediately launched a rescue mission. On contact, the bandidos were overpowered by the soldiers' superior firepower and fled into the bush with gunshot wounds, leaving all 17 captives behind. The rescued victims, comprising 13 adults and four children, were evacuated to the 12 Brigade Medical Centre for first aid and stabilisation. ''The Nigerian Army reassures the general public of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property,'' the statement read. ''We urge citizens to continue to support the military with timely informati byon to aid ongoing operations.''
