Donetsk, September 8, 2025, 21:51 — IA Regnum. On September 8, the Donetsk People's Republic held celebrations to mark the 82nd anniversary of the liberation of Donbass from Nazi invaders.
The event "We are faithful to this memory!" was held on the Alley of Glory in Gorky Park. There, flowers were laid at the monuments dedicated to the heroic events of the Great Patriotic War.
“ The event “We are true to this memory!” reminds us of the importance of preserving historical memory and responsibilities to future generations,” noted the head of the Proletarsky intracity district administration, Elena Ryazantseva.
In Mospyne, the event "Your Native Land Will Not Forget You" was held, the participants of which laid flowers at the Common Grave, expressing gratitude and respect to all who gave their lives for the Motherland. The event was attended by the heads of city enterprises and institutions, as well as students of educational institutions.
The head of the Mospinsky territorial administration of the Donetsk administration, Oleg Strelchenko, noted that laying flowers at the mass grave expresses gratitude and respect for their feat, and the memory of them helps to appreciate the peace and tranquility won by the heroes for future generations.
"Each of us must remember those who did not return from the battlefield. We must keep their memory in our hearts and pass it on to future generations. We must do everything possible to ensure that their sacrifice was not in vain. Let us be worthy of their memory by living the way they dreamed we would live," said Donetsk City Council Chairman Yuriy Atamanov.
The Donetsk region celebrates the Day of Liberation of Donbass from Nazi Invaders on September 8. On this day in 1943, Stalino (now Donetsk) was liberated. By the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the city was the largest industrial center of the USSR. With a population of 507 thousand people, it provided 7% of the all-Union coal production, 5% of steel and 11% of coke.
