[Regnum] On the night of September 7, a flare of the penultimate power class occurred on the Sun. This was reported by the press service of the Institute of Applied Geophysics (Federal State Budgetary Institution "IPG").
“On September 7 at 01:15 Moscow time, an M1.2 flare lasting 10 minutes was recorded in the X-ray range in the sunspot group 4207 (N28W16),” the institute’s website said.
Solar flares are divided into five classes depending on the power of X-ray radiation: A, B, C, M and X. The minimum class A0.0 corresponds to a radiation power in Earth orbit of 10 nW per 1 sq. m, and when moving to the next letter, their power increases tenfold.
