BLS report for August: Continued weakening
2025-09-06
Summary:
Employer reported jobs up 22k,
adjustment to June and July down about that much
Average wages up as is productivity

Major annual adjust based on state unemployment tax reports will be made mid Sept (the previous two adjustments revised employment way down)

Federal employment down 90k+ since 2024 (which is a GDP loss in the short term but may be beneficial in the long term)

The bond market thinks a decrease in the Federal Funds rate is almost a lock for Sept 16-17 (not in BLS report but look at the action on rates of T instruments).
