[Regnum] A military court sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment Ukrainian Armed Forces Colonels Yevgeny Bulatsik and Rostislav Karpusha, accused of a missile strike on the deployment of the Russian army in the Kursk region. This was reported on September 4 by the press service of the Main Military Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation.
The court found that in November 2024, on the orders of Bulatsik and Karpusha, a combined missile strike was carried out with 11 ATACMS missiles and four Storm Shadow cruise missiles. The target of the attack was the location of Russian military personnel and military equipment in one of the districts of the Kursk region, which resulted in human casualties and significant material damage.
The commanders of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were found guilty under paragraph “b” of Part 3 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Commission by a group of persons by prior conspiracy of a terrorist act resulting in the death of a person”).”
“The court sentenced each of the convicted persons in absentia to life imprisonment, with Bulatsik serving the first 10 years in prison, Karpushev the first 9 years in prison, and both the remainder of their sentences in a special regime penal colony,” the release states.
The prosecutor's office noted that Bulatsik and Karpusha have been placed on the international wanted list.
In addition, in June of this year, Karpusha was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment for committing two similar terrorist missile attacks on two areas where Russian military personnel and military equipment were deployed, as well as on one civilian facility in the Kursk region.
In April 2024, the court sentenced Bulatsik in absentia to 18 years in prison. It was established that on April 30, 2022, Bulatsik and other senior officials of the Armed Forces of Ukraine illegally ordered the crew of Su-24M frontline bombers to attack an oil station in Bryansk with aerial bombs.
