[Regnum] In the Novosibirsk region, two brothers suspected of drug trafficking set fire to their drug lab during their arrest. Law enforcement officers were in the house at the time, the regional department of the FSB of Russia reported on September 2.
The operatives detained two brothers in their private home in the village of Karpysak. They were engaged in the production and sale of mephedrone. During a search of the premises, a laboratory was found where more than 350 liters of chemical reagents and precursors were stored, as well as more than 40 kg of the finished drug. The total cost of the confiscated mephedrone, according to preliminary estimates, exceeds 30 million rubles.
According to law enforcement agencies, the men resisted arrest and tried to hide in a hiding place located in the basement. One of the attackers set the house on fire while the security forces remained inside. It is reported that none of the participants in the arrest operation were injured.
Both men were charged under Part 5 of Article 228.1 of the Russian Criminal Code (“Illegal production of narcotics on an especially large scale”), and one of them was additionally charged under Article 317 of the Russian Criminal Code (“Encroachment on the life of law enforcement officers”).
In June, in Domodedovo, Moscow Region, police stopped the activities of a drug lab, during a search of which over 1.3 tons of synthetic drugs worth more than 0.5 billion rubles were seized.
