[Regnum] Plasma ejected by the Sun will reach Earth by the night of September 2 and cause strong magnetic storms. This was reported on August 31 by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"The results of modeling the movement of yesterday's plasma emission along the Sun-Earth line have been generated. According to calculations, solar matter will reach the Earth tomorrow, September 1, between 11:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. Moscow time. <…> Preliminarily, the most reliable storm level is considered to be G3 (strong events that have not been observed for about three months) with a probability of about 20% of reaching the maximum [the penultimate in power] level G4," the laboratory's Telegram channel states.
It is also specified that the probability of a higher level (G5) is almost completely excluded.
The publication also indicates that intense polar lights are expected at the moment the plasma hits the Earth's magnetosphere and for the next few hours.
Late in the evening of August 30, scientists recorded a plasma ejection from the Sun towards the Earth. Synchronously with the ejection, a flare of the M2.76 level (the strongest since August 26) was registered. In addition, scientists allowed for new strong explosions.
