[Regnum] A jump in energy release occurred in the active region 4197 on the Sun, a series of moderate-power flares were registered, the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported on August 30.
"A noticeable jump in energy release was registered in active region 4197 about two hours ago. A series of moderate-power M-level flares is currently occurring here," the laboratory wrote on its Telegram channel.
Scientists noted that, judging by the video, the explosive processes are localized in one area. They do not affect the entire complex of sunspots. So far, no imbalance of the entire active complex has been observed, the IKI RAS suggested.
Previously, scientists reported that the active region 4197 on the Sun, which had accumulated a large amount of energy, turned towards the Earth. The region had already been assigned the maximum Beta-Gamma-Delta category due to its huge energy reserves, but no significant flares had been recorded there so far.
