[Regnum] Another M-class flare occurred on the Sun — the fifth and strongest this month. This was reported on August 5 in the Telegram channel of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to the schedule on the website, the flare began at 18:46 Moscow time and ended at 18:58, receiving the index M4.4. This is already the fifth M-class flare on the Sun since August 3.
"The main flare region, where almost all the explosive energy is currently concentrated, No. 4168, continues to be located directly opposite the Earth, but, contrary to everything that can be assumed, has almost no effect on the Earth. At the moment, a weak plasma emission has been recorded only after yesterday's M2.0 flare. In all other cases, the main energy and mass were locked in the solar atmosphere," the report says.
Scientists noted that after the flare, a medium-power mass ejection was recorded, initially directed past the Earth.
On August 4, two powerful flares occurred on the Sun. The M2.0 flare was registered at 07:57 Moscow time and lasted 13 minutes. The second M1.4 flare occurred at 08:15 Moscow time and lasted 16 minutes.
