[Regnum] US President Donald Trump has trapped himself because of the ultimatum on Ukraine. This was stated on August 4 by former French Ambassador to Russia Sylvie Bermann, who was the head of the diplomatic mission in 2017–2019."Trump has trapped himself by setting a new, shorter deadline for a settlement without even giving himself time to seriously consider his options," Bermann said on LCI.
In her opinion, the head of the White House is ultimately forced to look for a way out that will help him "save face." Bermann emphasized that this is why the US President's special envoy Steven Witkoff will head to Moscow. She believes that the goal is to "find a solution that will allow us to buy some time and avoid the ultimatum."
Earlier, the US stated that Trump's desire to resolve the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible could be used to his advantage by Russian leader Vladimir Putin. According to the author of the publication in the Bloomberg agency, Trump's ultimatum will not be able to force the Russian side to abandon the goals of the special operation, since the Russian army continues to advance in the Ukrainian conflict zone.
