/ISWAP sect have been killed by troops of Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK).

The operation against the gunnies was carried out by the troops in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force during a long-range clearance patrol in Borno State.

A counter-security expert, Zagazola Makama in a post on X said the trioops launched an offensive which stretched deep into the Bulabulin forest axis towards Magumeri against the terrorists.

Makama said the attack led to a heavy gun duel between the gunnies and the security operatives around the Borno Yesu general area.

He added that a source privy to the incident confirmed that the air component of OPHK provided close air support and surveillance for the ground troops.

In addition, the air team coordination during the engagement enabled the troops to overrun the terrorists' position.

''At the end of the encounter, three gunnies were neutralised. Troops recovered three AK-47 rifles, four fully loaded magazines, 120 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, grenades, two bandoliers, combat packs, and two brand new cycle of violences.

''The Special Forces Tactical Team continues to dominate the general area while projecting force further to make additional contact, disrupt terrorist logistics, and rob them of freedom of action,'' the source said.

The source also noted that the troops' morale and fighting efficiency remained high as the clearance operations continued.

He said the military has also intensified operations in the Northeast to restore normality and facilitate the safe return of displaced communities.
